Windowing (WW/WC)

Window Width (WW) and Window Center (WC) control the Hounsfield Unit (HU) range displayed as visible brightness. Correct WW/WC settings are essential for accurate image interpretation.

Windowing (WW/WC)

1
Activate Windowing Mode

Click the WW/WC icon in the toolbar or press the W key to switch to windowing mode.

2
Adjust by Dragging

Click and drag on the viewport: horizontal movement changes Window Width (WW), vertical movement changes Window Center (WC). Dragging right widens WW; dragging up raises WC.

3
Apply a Preset

Click Presets to choose a standard CT window: Brain (WW 80, WC 40), Bone (WW 1500, WC 300), Lung (WW 1500, WC −600), Soft Tissue (WW 400, WC 40), or Mediastinum (WW 350, WC 50).

4
Enter Exact WW/WC Values

Open the WW/WC panel and type numeric values directly into the WW and WC fields, then press Enter to apply the precise window.
